We work to build men & women of character and faith. We seek to apply life lessons from the Bible, the writing of Conservation Heroes, and the practices of proven training platforms. We train people and dogs with the mindset that Acquisition, Fluency, Generalization & Maintenance are necessary to uphold character and ethics in all of life's circumstances.
Our Story
We've found that throughout our lives, our best stories, friends and experiences have been shared in the field. As brothers in the faith, we believe there is something special about connecting with our Father's creation through the sport of hunting. Raising families, making connections and building characters has been something we've found we can always connect to the hunting world, so here we are. At Genesis Hunters we work to introduce men and women to the world of hunting as well as the gospel, while working to give our brothers and sisters a new outlook on life and fellowship.
Meet The Team
Jay Johnson
Pit Boss
Jay, our Pit Boss, is our CEO. Jay’s passion for the outdoors and hunting is only surpassed by his love of God and pursuit of learning about Him. After a life changing medical emergency in 2019, Jay has been called to and is pursuing a degree in Divinity. Jay became an ordained Pastor in 2020 and has a passion of Fishing for those who need Jesus. Jay is the Pastor of Hillcrest Community Church in Nashville, TN. Jay’s responsibilities as Pitboss are Vision & Strategy, improve performance & Innovate, approve budgets, and overall Ambassador.
When he is not outdoors, working or in school, Jay can be found at home on his farm with his wife Kassie and their children.
Gerald "Cap'n" Cook
Chief Flight Officer
Gerald – or Cap’n, as he’s known by his friends – is our Chief Flight Officer (CFO). When he’s not training a lab for gundog work, Cap’n is busy planning our next outing. He is responsible for business development, scheduling, and contracting. You will also find Gerald at home with his wife, Tami, taking care of their small farm, dog training facility, and their love of camping and hiking.
Angela Cook
Social Media Genius
Angela is our resident social media guru. Angela works to share the mission and vision of Genesis Hunters through our social media and website. She is always looking for new ways to expand our following. Angela attends Mississippi State University and is majoring in Ag Communications. She has a passion of sharing her loves of hunting, art and agriculture. When she's not in class, Angela can be found spending time with friends, playing with an animal or traveling.
